This study aimed to understand how spine surgeons in Iberolatinoamerican countries are using methylprednisolone sodium succinate (MPSS) to treat acute spinal cord injuries (ASCIs). A survey was sent to surgeons to collect information on their use of MPSS, including dosage and timing. The results showed that the use of MPSS is not widespread, and there is still controversy regarding its use, likely due to limited evidence and variations in treatment protocols.
The inconsistencies in MPSS prescription highlight the need for standardized treatment protocols.
More research is needed to better uniformize the treatment of ASCI patients.
Increased information and education are necessary to standardize corticosteroid prescription.
