Thermal skin injuries are a significant cause of skin damage, leading to potential morbidity and mortality. This study explores the effects of hyperbaric oxygen treatment (HBO) and antioxidant supplementation with Filipendula ulmaria extract on thermal skin injuries. The research used rats with thermal injuries, treated with HBO and Filipendula ulmaria extract. The study assessed the macroscopic and histopathological characteristics, gene expression of pro-inflammatory mediators, opioid receptors, and behavioral testing for pain. The study concludes that the simultaneous use of HBO and antioxidant supplementation shows advantages in treating thermal skin injuries, specifically in reducing pain sensations associated with such trauma.
Combined HBO and antioxidant supplementation can enhance wound closure and tissue regeneration in thermal skin injuries.
The combined therapy shows potential for reducing pain and nociceptive signaling associated with thermal burns.
The findings suggest a promising therapeutic approach for managing burn injuries by integrating HBO and natural antioxidant supplements.
