Spinal arachnoid cysts (SACs) are rare occurrences that have been classified as part of the larger group of meningeal pathologies called spinal meningeal cysts. This report is, to the best of our knowledge, the first to describe the long-term outcomes in a patient with multiple de novo forming and recurring intradural SACs. The patient developed several cysts extending intradurally from the posterior fossa to the lower thoracic levels. The etiology of the condition could not be defined.
Consider spinal arachnoid cysts in patients with spinal cord and nerve root compression symptoms.
Surgical treatment may be offered initially, but conservative management should be considered if recurrence is rapid and symptoms are not severe.
Further research is needed to understand the etiology and potential genetic factors associated with multiple and recurring arachnoid cysts.
