Sport horses are increasingly susceptible to injury due to rigorous work-outs that sometimes exceed physiological thresholds. Prioritizing exercise preparation and post-care is critical to mitigating injury risks. Despite preventative measures, injuries can still occur, necessitating a nuanced understanding of therapeutic approaches. Equine sports medicine faces challenges in keeping up with expansive therapeutic options. This review elucidates available therapies, including conservative and regenerative methods, for managing musculoskeletal injuries in sport horses. It seeks to address injuries comprehensively, restore organ function, and sustain the horse’s athletic life.
Implementing comprehensive clinical and orthopedic examinations alongside advanced diagnostic tools can lead to more accurate and timely diagnoses of musculoskeletal conditions in horses.
Understanding the benefits and limitations of various conservative and regenerative therapies enables tailored treatment plans that maximize healing and functional recovery.
Integrating physiotherapeutic modalities and controlled exercise programs into rehabilitation plans can promote better biomechanics and restore function to affected tissues, improving overall patient outcomes.
