This study investigates how well adults with disabilities reintegrate into their communities after being discharged from a rehabilitation center. Community integration includes resuming normal life activities and roles. The study uses the Reintegration to Normal Living Index (RNLI) to measure community integration. This index assesses various aspects of daily living and social participation. The results show that participants experienced challenges in areas like mobility, work, recreation, and social activities, indicating poor community reintegration overall.
Rehabilitation programs should emphasize recreational, social, and work activities to improve community integration.
Address environmental barriers to enhance community mobility and access.
Provide tailored support to address the specific needs of individuals with different diagnoses (SCI, brain trauma, peripheral impairments).
